A retired doctor nearly became the sixth UK Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant to take home the grand prize of £1 million, but played it safe on the final question.

Andrew Townsley, from Glasgow, answered the first 14 questions on the ITV quiz show correctly but didn’t want to risk it all on the final motorsports question, leaving with a staggering £500,000.

Speaking to host Jeremy Clarkson before making his final decision to take the money, he said:

“I don’t know the answer and it’s just too much money to lose.”

“Having got so far and to go on a whim I think would be foolish and Niagara Falls is looking very nice at this time.”

But it looked like he could have won the ultimate jackpot as he admitted the answer to the million-pound question would have been his first guess.

So do you think you have what it takes to win the £1 million pound prize?

Try your chances at Andrew’s questions below and see how well you do.
